A new business concept for the South King County area that opened 01/04/11. , Self Serve Garage is a do-it-yourself auto repair shop open to the public. The shop is equipped with hydraulic lifts and open bays to accommodate most automotive repair and maintenance needs. We rent space, equipment, and tools to customers by the hour, day, or week if needed. Mechanics are also available at customer's expense. After charged over $600 for a basic tuneup, I examined the repair bill and discovered most of the cost was labor. Researching parts for a tuneup, I found the parts were less than $200. Continueing to research, I discovered a website that provided me with systematic instructions, and this is where my idea was born. Self Serve Garage (SSG) came from an idea of giving the public an option for expensive vehicle repairs., Some people perfer to do their own repairs, but may have some limiting factors, space, equipment, tools, or resources.
