Joseph Smoot established Smoot Brothers Transfer in 1946, after completing 16 years of loyal service with the United States Army. His three sons took over the day-to-day operations of the moving company in 1976. Under the leadership of the Smoot sons, Guardian Moving and Storage became the largest contractor for the Department of Defense, while providing many relocation services for federal, state, and local government agencies.
