About Provider

The Caring Hands (Manos Carinosas) Workers' Association of Mujeres Unidas y Activas, a Latina immigrant women's group, is a child care, housecleaning and home health care provider referral service. We are NOT an employment agency and never charge for referrals or receive commission from worker's wages. We are a bilingual grassroots project promoting comprehensive job training for Latina immigrant women to offer high quality care in the Bay Area. \nCaring Hands (Manos Carinosas) members are reliable, caring and CPR/ First Aid certified.\nOur members have all completed rigorous training programs in child care, patient care and eco-friendly house cleaning with service available in San Francisco, Oakland and parts of the East Bay. Caring Hands members are all active participants in MUA's leadership programs and take part in child care within our organization as well as monthly Committee and Association meetings where together they work to resolve issues and elevate quality of all services. In 1994, Mujeres Unidas y Activas(MUA) members raised the need for a new program to complement the organization's existing initiatives. Members explained that while MUA had empowered them to become community leaders and provided them with the necessary skills to advocate for themselves and their families, they needed employment skills training and workforce opportunities that would enable them to build their families' economic security.\n\nWith this need in mind, MUA developed the Caring Hands Workers' Association. Through Caring Hands, MUA members receive job training and referrals to employers looking for domestic help in child care, eco-friendly housecleaning and in-home patient care as well as act collectively to help Latina immigrants achieve dignified and just employment and work together to provide quality service and resolve workplace issues.
